Cardiff is an established centre of legal and accounting expertise, with these two sectors alone employing around 15,000 professionals. Firms with operations in the city include Deloitte, PwC, Grant Thornton, and KPMG. Cardiff is an increasingly important destination for a diverse range of financial and professional services firms, exporting £1.7bn in financial and professional services.

Home to a thriving fintech sector with companies such as Bipsync, Delio and Wealthify and with growing specialisms in banking, lending and quote aggregator tech. Fintech scaleup Monzo launched a new customer operations centre in the City, bringing 300 jobs, while Starling Bank has also opened its third UK office in Cardiff, creating a further 400 jobs. It has a strong talent pool, with two-thirds of the sector's workforce considered high skilled. Cardiff also has established strengths in insurance with crypto insurance scaleup Coincover bringing together the city region’s strengths in professional services and tech.

£25m Foreign direct investment in financial services between 2019-2023

Foreign direct investment into financial services in the four years to 2023 brought 200 financial and professional services jobs to the city.
