Cardiff city region is an established centre of financial and professional services, employing around 45,000 professionals. Firms with operations in the city include Admiral Group, Legal&General, and Zurich Insurance. Cardiff is an increasingly important destination for a diverse range of financial and professional services firms, exporting £3.3bn in financial and professional services.

It is home to a thriving fintech sector with companies such as Bipsync, Delio, Monzo, Starling and Wealthify. It has growing specialisms in banking, payments, insurtech, green finance and AI-driven compliance, among others. It has a strong talent pool, with nearly two-thirds of the sector's workforce considered high skilled and and 13,000 people employed by fintech. Cardiff also has established strengths in insurance with crypto insurance scaleup Coincover bringing together the city region’s strengths in professional services and tech.

£83m Foreign direct investment in financial services between 2021-2025

Foreign direct investment into financial services in the four years to 2025 brought over 500 financial and professional services jobs to the city.
