Financial and related professional services jobs throughout the UK

The UK's financial and related professional services (FRPS) sector is a catalyst for growth.

It supports nearly 2.5 million jobs, two-thirds outside London, generating £323 billion in economic output and contributing nearly £110 billion in annual tax revenues, equivalent to around 12% of all UK tax receipts.

International investment reinforces that footprint. In 2025 alone, overseas firms launched 226 financial and professional services projects across the UK, creating more than 12,200 jobs, with over half of those jobs outside London.

The City of London Corporation is turning investment appetite into UK growth

The City of London’s initiatives strengthen the global competitiveness of the UK’s financial and professional services sector and connect capital to investment-ready regional and local opportunities.

InvestConnect – announced at Mansion House in July, InvestConnect is designed to tackle the investable-project gap by connecting investors with critical UK infrastructure projects worth more than £100m. The three founding opportunity partners are The Scotland Government, Cornwall Council, and Liverpool City Region Combined Authority. It is a vital mechanism for directing investment across all UK nations and regions. Investors managing $3tn of global assets are helping shape the AI-enabled platform, which will launch in Autumn 2026.

Sterling 20 – the delivery vehicle for the Mansion House Accord, launched by the City Corporation and HM Government. It brings together pension funds and insurers committed to investing 10% of default pension assets in private markets by 2030, with half allocated to UK private investment. The Accord is expected to unlock £25bn for UK infrastructure, housing, clean energy, innovation and high-growth companies by 2030.

Office for Investment: Financial Services – a joint COLC and HM Treasury initiative operational within the City Corporation since October 2025, OFI:FS builds on the City Corporation’s investment-hub blueprint. It acts as a concierge service for international financial services firms, bringing together government, regulators and industry to help firms establish or expand in the UK. OFI:FS aims to attract £10bn of additional international financial services investment by 2030.
