The City of London Corporation at COP28

In December, the gavel came down on the negotiations at COP28, with the final text including specific reference to fossil fuels for the very first time by calling for a transition away from fossil fuels in energy systems. With the formal negotiations and huge swathe of private sector activity now concluded, the next few months will be critical as policymakers and industry alike consider the key outcomes and how best to continue to drive forward progress to net zero. It remains clear there are significant challenges on this journey, but the record 97,000 attendees at COP28 demonstrates the drive to meet these remains undiminished.
The City Corporation were proud to deliver a programme of engagements centred around finance day at COP28, led by the Lord Mayor and Policy Chairman. The highlight of this was the launch of the Net Zero Delivery Summit 2024. Now in its third year, the summit is a milestone in the sustainable finance calendar. Due to take place in early June, at the midpoint between COPs, it is a key moment to maintain momentum in financial and professional services on the work to meet global net zero goals. In 2024 the Summit will focus on innovation and financing solutions for practical progress.
We are currently seeking five sponsors for the event from across financial and professional services. Click here to find out more and submit an expression of interest.
